Tax Receipts

Tax receipts for the Planned Giving for the financial year 2009/2010 are available for collection from the back of the church this weekend.

There will be a meeting for parents in the Parish Centre on July 21 at 7.00pm. Preparation classes will take place in the Parish Centre on Sundays 1, 8 , 15 and 22 August between 9.00 and 10.00am

OLSS Playgroup

Meets Tuesday mornings in school terms from 9.00-11.00am in the Parish Hall. Children 0-5 with a parent or carer are welcome. Cost is $4.00 per family per week. Contact Clair Coles 9542 8384 ....0411254587.

Parish Youth Council

an OLSS Youth Ministry Initiative.

For the first time OLSS is bringing a council of representatives together to form a Parish Youth Council. We already have selected the first youth councillors and we are now looking for nominations for PARISHIONERS to join this council.

Who can be nominated?
Any parishioner wanting to be involved in the decisions and ideas for fostering our young people within our parish.

What does this mean?
Once you have been nominated, there will be a short list of nominees made for the current youth councillors and there will be a vote for the position(s).

How many positions are there?
The "parishioner" role on the PYC will include 1-3 members - one of which with teenage children or had experience in youth ministry or youth education.

How do I nominate / be nominated?
You can nominate yourself, or anybody you see fitting for this role; by emailing the PYC at miranda_pyc@live.com with the subject line "Nomination" and enter their full name, contact details (of you or the nominee) and why they should be considered.

Nominations close at 5pm Monday 26th July, 2010

What will the commitment be?
a monthly meeting held on the LAST MONDAY of each month to discuss all things youth, from ministries to WYD to finances to parish life. These meetings will last no longer than 2hrs.

Who is in charge of the council?
The parish youth minister Corinne Lindsell. I look forward to receiving the nominations and commencing this council to better serve the parish and her youth.

Seven10 every Friday (during school terms) at 7pm at the Parish Center.
Youth from years 7-10 gather for a night of fun, friendship and faith!

ANTIOCH

Antioch - a youth group for youth between 16 and early 20s.

Meets each Sunday evening after 6pm Mass.

Our next Retreat Weekend is from the 4th June Friday till the 6th June Sunday.

OLSS Young Vinnies Conference

It is with great pleasure to bring you the latest news from the parish Youth Ministries.

The month of June was set aside for recruiting a social justice committee formed by young adults of the parish.

We are aligning ourselves with St Vincent De Paul's "Young Vinnies" conferences that are run at a national level, and taking on the charism of St Vincent De Paul, of outreach and Faith in action.

Our first meeting will be Thursday 29th July at 7.30pm
We look forward to reporting back to you with our goals and objectives for outreach in our local community, our parish and our City.

A new group for young men aged 16 and above meet in the Youth Centre to discuss contemporary issues and join in fellowship as Christian brothers in Christ.
They are meeting next on the 22 August at 4pm to 5.30pm.

Come and share with young women, the power of God, prayer and womanhood.

Faith, Friends, Fun @ 56 is here!!!!!

A friendship group for children of our school and Parish in years 5 and 6.
Much like the 7-10 group already operating in our Parish, fff@56 will meet regularly to celebrate our great faith, strengthen friendships, and share a meal together.
The cost of the evening is $5 to cover the cost of the pizza.
Parents feel free to stay on if you like, but know there will be several Star of the Sea parents on hand on the night to assist in the smooth running of things.
These next few years will be years of great growth and change for our children. It is our hope that these nights will empower our children further on both their personal journeys and those with their friends. For more information contact:
